Darvesh Yadav murder: Ripples reach apex court

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the women petitioners in person — Indu Kaul and Kumud Lata Das — to file a fresh Public Interest Litigation on the issue of safety and security of lady advocates after closure of working hours in court premises across the country. A vacation bench, headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna, issued the directive.

The apex court also asked the plaintiffs to add the issue of social security measures for lady advocates in their petition.  It had earlier declined to pass any order on hearing the petitions of these two lawyers regarding the probe into the murder of Uttar Pradesh Bar Association chairperson, Darvesh Yadav. The Supreme Court had asked the petitioners to approach the Allahabad High Court over the murder investigation.
