DCW chief launches 13-day 'padyatra' for women safety, 'Mahila Suraksha Dal'

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Sunday began a 13-day ‘padyatra’ on women safety from Rajghat, and launched pilot project ‘Mahila Suraksha Dal’ during the foot march.

‘I feel that unless people come on the road, changes will not come. We are undertaking a 13-day women safety ‘padyatra’ from February 24 to March 8. I appeal to all citizens of Delhi to join us in this padyatra and walk at least 10 steps with us,’ Ms Maliwal said.

The DCW Chief and her team will meet women, receive complaints and will initiate on spot action.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter and supported Ms Maliwal’s campaign on women safety.

‘Swati ji and her team are working tirelessly for the safety and security of women. Best wishes to them for this padyatra,’ Mr Kejriwal said.

As part of the yatra , Ms Maliwal will stay in jhuggis. (UNI)
