Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended Ikrar Ahmed, a dangerous robber who was facing charges under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), in the early hours of Saturday.
Police sources said, “he was nabbed near the Tis Hazari Courts after a run in with the Special Cell team this morning.”
Ahmed (36), is a resident of New Mustfabad, Delhi.
Police also recovered a pistol and four live cartridges from the convict.
Along with being a member of infamous ‘Namastey Gang’, Ikrar was wanted in a MCOCA case. Several cases of robberies were also attributed to his name in the national capital.
Ahmed was also wanted in a case of murderous assault on a policeman in 2017.
“He has previously been involved in over two dozen criminal cases of robbery, snatching, robbery, Arms Act,” the police said .
