In the last leg of their two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission team on Tuesday arrived here to review situation ahead of Lok Sabha polls.The team, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, will also meet political party representatives and officers of other wings.Before leaving for the national capital, the team will brief media but prior to that the Commission will also meet Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanium and Director General of Police Dilbag Singh to get an overall security review and deployments of additional deployment of troops for smooth conduct of the elections.
The Election Commissioner alongwith two poll commissioners– Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra– will meet representatives from seven national and three regional parties to get views on the situation in the state besides the Deputy Commissioners, police officers and many other government representatives.
The EC team on Monday met almost all national and regional party leaders in Srinagar which have favoured simultaneous conduct of assembly and general elections. (UNI)
