Amid the anger across the country over the terrorist attack in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, several film federations, including
Federation of Western India Cine Employees have called for ban on Pakistan artists working in Bollywood.
Calling for a ban on Pakistani artists in Bollywood, Federation of Western India Cine Employees warned that if the filmmakers do not follow the given rule, the shooting of the film will be stalled.
24 film associations including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) organised a protest on Sunday and demanded a ban on working of Pakistani artists in films in Bollywood.
In a tweet, Ashok Pandit of the FWICE said, ‘FWICE starts showing its solidarity to our #martyrs of #PulwamaAttack. 24 crafts get together to condemn terror act of #Pakistan at Filmcity.’
Veteran actor Shabana Azmi and her husband and playwright Javed Akhtar cancelled their event to be held in Karachi following the terror attack.
Trade sources said Bhushan Kumar’s T-series has also pulled down all the Pakistani singers’ songs from their YouTube Channel.
“T-Series had uploaded Atif’s and Rahat Saab’s single a day before but as soon as the news came label decided to remove the videos looking at the situation. What happened with Pulwama attack is horrible and the label condemns the act and it was their way to show support. The music label has stopped all promotions for those songs as soon as the news came,’ the sources said.
Many Bollywood celebrities like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Shabana Azmi others condemned this horrific act on social media.
