FIR registered against Navjot Singh Sidhu for exhorting Muslims to vote en bloc

An FIR was registered against senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu at Barsoi police station in Katihar district today for appealing Muslims to vote en bloc for Congress during his election meeting in the district.
Katihar police superintendent Vikas Kumar said that the FIR had been lodged at Barsoi police station in Katihar district. He said that the FIR had been lodged by a flying squad team.
Meanwhile, sources at election office said that a report had been sent to Election Commission of India for necessary action.
As it is, Sidhu while addressing an election meeting in Katihar in favour of Congress candidate Tariq Anwar, yesterday, said, “You (Muslims) are in majority here (Katihar) despite being a minority community. If you show unity, nobody can defeat Congress and your candidate Tariq Anwar. Your population here (Katihar) is 64 percent. Muslims of this place are my pride”.
Sidhu had said, “I have come to warn you. They are dividing your votes. They, by taking support of people like Owaisi (Asaduddin Owaisi), want to divide your (Muslims) votes by dragging a new party into the fray. But, population of minority community is very huge. If you (Muslims) get united, Narendra Modi will be nowhere, sixer will be hit. When I was young, I used to hit sixer many times. Hit such a sixer, Modi will be thrown out of boundary”. (UNI)
