Five people died and three injured in lightning in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 7 (UNI) As many as five people have died and three injured due to lightning in Odisha yesterday. State Deputy Special Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra here today said while two people died each in Koraput, and Keonjhar district and one died in Dhenkanal district due to lightning. Mr Mohapatra said, in addition to it three people were injured due to lightning in Keonjhar district yesterday.

Giving the details, the Deputy SRC said Pitabasa Kumbhar and Upendra Kumbhar (35) of Kumbarput village under jeypore Tahasil of Koraput district, Akhuja Sahoo (58) of Batasinh village under Parjang Tahasil in Dhenkanal district, Dushahan Naik (45) and Bhagatbat Nail (40) of Baunshagada village under Ananda Pur Tahasil in Keonjhar district have died after lightning strike. Mr Mohapatra identified the three injured as  Gobinda Munda, Reena Munda and Gurubari Munda of Ghatagaon Tahasil in Keonjhar district. In addition to it, he said, a bullock of one Nila Bhutia under Parjang Tahasil of Dhenkanal district died in lightning.
