Former Minister Yogendra Sao surrenders in Ranchi court

Following the directions of the supreme court former Jharkhand Minister Yogendra Sao today surrendered at the Ranchi Civil Court here.

Mr Sao surrendered before the court of additional district judge (7th) SS Prasad who later forwarded him to Hotwar jail.

On April 12, the supreme court had asked him to surrender before a Lower court in Ranchi. The apex court had earlier cancelled his bail on the ground that he had violated the terms and conditions laid for the bail.

After surrendering before the court Sao accused the Raghubar Das government of hatching conspiracy against him. He said that he use to come from Bhopal only for case related issues in Ranchi. He said that fake cases have been framed against him and sounded hopeful that justice will prevail in his favour at the end of the day.

The former minister said that he had not committed a heinous crime of murder docoity or rape but his act was related to the issues of the people. He said that companies in Barkagaon with the use of force are capturing the land of the people which was opposed by him and his MLA wife Nirmala Devi.

Sao is one of the main accused in the Chirudih firing incident of Barkagaon which took place in the year 2016. His MLA wife Nirmala Devi had been leading the people against coal mining being done on the directions of NTPC in the area.
A clash had broken out between the people and the police and as the police tried to take away the MLA forcefully in which four people were killed as police opened fire to disperse the crowd. (UNI)
