Even as the formal letter of invite from the West Bengal Government for talks at 3 PM today at the State Secretariat, Nabanna, between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the striking junior doctors reached the Principal of NRS Medical College and
Hospital, any confirmation from the agitating medics whether to attend the meeting is still awaited. Upon receipt of the letter, the striking doctors are presently holding a General Body meeting to decide their further course of action.
It was clearly mentioned that there will be no presence of media during the meeting,
though the minute details of the talks would be documented. The indefinite ceasework by the junior doctors entered the seventh day today as the situation took a turn for the worse with the joining of private practitioners and hospitals
responding to the Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) nationwide strike call, thereby
sending the patients wilting under continuous strife.
