General VK Singh took charge of the office of the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways here on Monday.
He was Union Minister of State for External Affairs in the previous government.
Speaking to media, General Singh said he will take forward the good work done by the ministry.
He said holistic development of road infrastructure in the country will be given top priority.
General VK Singh is a member of Lok Sabha since May, 2014.
