GoAir launches flights on 3 int'l routes given after closure of Jet

Wadia Group-owned airline GoAir on Thursday announced flights on three international routes – Bangkok, Kuwait and Dubai – which the carrier was given following the closure of Jet Airways.

“After the closure of Jet Airways, the GoAir was allotted 28 domestic and three international routes. The airline is growing its domestic and international network,” Network Planning VP Samir Patel told a press conference here.

The airline has started taking bookings on the routes from July till September this year, he added.

Announcing the plans, International Operations vice-president Arjun Dasgupta said the flights to Dubai and Bangkok would start operating from July 25 while the route to Kuwait would be opened from August 1. The airline will commence maiden flights to and from Delhi – Bangkok with fares starting at Rs 8,197 and Kannur – Dubai fares starting at Rs 6,200.

The carrier will also commence its maiden flights to and from Mumbai – Bangkok with fares starting at Rs 8,498. Subsequently, it will start Kannur – Kuwait flights, he said.

Effective July 19, the airline will kick off its maiden flights to and from Delhi – Abu Dhabi with fares starting at Rs 7,098; Mumbai – Abu Dhabi at Rs 6,599 and Mumbai – Muscat at Rs 7,100. On the domestic front, the airline is strengthening its Hyderabad operations with eight new flights from Hyderabad to Cochin, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Patna.

Out of these, two flights are frequency additions on existing Hyderabad – Bengaluru – Hyderabad sector making it a day return product.

“The airline is strengthening its presence in South India and adding more connections from Hyderabad – Chandigarh, Patna, Kochi, Jaipur and Bangalore. The airline is targeting younger passengers with affordable fares,” Network Planning VP Samir Patel said.

The GoAir also announced increment in its aircraft fleet too. The airline took delivery of its 51st aircraft, and will be adding at least one aircraft every month. Till date GoAir has flown approximately 73.3 million passengers since its inception. The company also aims to touch the magic figure of 100 million passengers in the next two years.
