Google marks start of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with animated doodle

The search engine Google on Thursday dedicated a doodle to celebrate and mark the commencement of the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 which is being held at England and Wales.
In the doodle, the first ‘O’ has been replaced by a leather cricket ball and the letter ‘L’ by cricket stumps.
The animated doodle features a cricket ball and three stumps. On clicking the doodle, one can see a bowler delivering a ball and batsman hitting it before the ball is caught by a fielder.
A total of 48 ODIs will be played between 10 participating nations in this World Cup. England, India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will battle it out on the field to lift the coveted ICC World Cup trophy.
The format of the World Cup has been changed this time, with each team requiring to play other nine teams in the group stages, after which the top four will qualify for the semifinals.
The 2019 Cricket World Cup begins with hosts England locking horns with South Africa in the opening match at The Oval on Thursday.
Australia are the defending champions after winning the ICC World Cup 2015 by beating New Zealand in the finals.
Australia are have won the maximum number of World Cups (5) while India are eyeing their third World Cup. The hosts England will look to break the deadlock and lift their maiden 50-over World Cup.
