Govt planning to take new steps for promoting tourism

To promote tourism and make tourists comfortable at different monuments, the government has planned to put the signboards in three languages, including the top three countries from where the tourists have the largest footfall at that particular place, Minister of Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel said in New Delhi  on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, the Minister said the government is planning to train the tourist guides with a specially-designed short term programme, for the convenience of visitors.

The guides, who at times are not formally educated, but skilled enough, after getting the training, will work more efficiently, thus earning a good reputation from the tourists, he added.

Health tourism will also be a priority for the government and steps will be accordingly taken to promote the same in different regions of the country, based on the kind of tourists who visit there.

The Minister further said that more emphasis will be laid on improving and expanding the social media in terms of providing information to the tourists with state level involvement, to better inform the tourist and efforts will be made towards improving the infrastructure and providing world class facilities to the tourists.
