Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday assured university professors and teachers that the government is in favour of 200-point roster system for the appointment of teaching faculty in colleges and varsities.
Javadekar, while briefing reporters here said, “University community will get justice. There is no need for protest.”
He also said that in a couple of days, the government will decide on the matter.
“We will take necessary legal action,” he added further.
The announcement comes in the wake of a strike call by the Adivasis demanding the 200-point roster system in appointment of teachers in colleges and universities so that the youth of SC, ST and Other Backward Classes get justice.
The Minister said the BJP-led government had filed a review petition against setting up a department-wise roster, which had been cancelled by the Supreme court.
“The government stands for societal justice, it favours the 200-point roster,” he said, adding that “Reservation should be given considering a university as one whole unit, and not in a department-wise manner.”
