Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials concerned to provide house site pattas to all eligible homeless poor on Telugu New Year day in 2020. The Chief Minister held a review meeting on distribution of house site pattas to the eligible poor with the officials here on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to conduct a comprehensive land re-survey by using the state-of-the art technology before the distribution of house site pattas on next Ugadi festival. The re-survey becomes necessary as most of the land records in the state have either been misplaced or lost after 1980. Rovers, robots and satellite imagery, GPS and other modern-day equipment would be used to identify and map government lands, Mr Reddy said.
The officials told the Chief Minister that about 14.06 lakh people are waiting to receive house site pattas in the rural areas and 12.69 lakh people in the urban areas. The officials informed the Chief Minister that so far 23,448 acres of land has been identified and it is being surveyed to find out if it was suitable for housing. Out of the identified land, 20,800 acres were in the rural areas and 2,580 acres was in the urban areas. The Chief Minister directed the officials to send the village volunteers to identify eligible beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, Mr Reddy reviewed the functioning of the Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDC) and directed the officials to ensure that there was no corruption in the construction of houses in the urban areas and also instructed them to take the advice of experts.
When the Chief Minister said there should be a downtrend in the rates when sand and land are being provided free of cost and cement was being given at a subsidy, the officials told him that new rates would be finalised by the month-end and reverse tenders would be called in next month. Ministers— Botsa Satyanarayana, Bugganna Rajendranath, Kuralsala Kannababu were present at the review meet. (UNI)
