I am not in race for AICC President post: Mallikarjun Kharge

Senior Congress leader M Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday categorically denied that he was in the race to be the next Congress President.

Addressing a press persons here, Kharge said that it was only a speculation that he was the race for All India Congress committee (AICC ) Presidents’ post ,

‘’It was wrong. Rahu Gandhi will continue in the Congress High post ‘’.

He said the party had persuaded Rahul Gandhi to continue as the AICC President and he will agree to the request.

The Congress veteran, who lost in Kalaburgi Lok Sabha election said loosing and gaining in the political arena was common in his 55 year-old political carrier,

but the life remains the same for him as well for the Congress party in Karnataka and elsewhere in the country.

‘’We can’t lose our heart about it (winning just one seat in Karnataka out of 28), but the Congress will once again rise in the next election’’, he said.

On the speculation that Rahul Gandhi is determined to quit as Congress president and he is in the ‘race’ for the post, was unfounded, Kharge said.
