West Bengal Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday and appraised him about the situation of the state which has witnessed clashes between the cadres of ruling TMC and the BJP.
Talking to mediapersons after meeting the Home Minister, Mr Tripathi said he has apprised him on the current situation in West Bengal and also submitted a general report on the situation in the state.
The Union Home Ministry has viewed the recent incidents of violence with deep concern and sent an Advisory to the State Government on Sunday.
The West Bengal Government on late Sunday evening asserted that that the situation in the state was in control and on the basis of a few stray incidents it could not be said that the situation might not be construed under any circumstances to be failure on part of the law enforcement machinery of the state to maintain law and order and empute confidence among people, the West Bengal.
This was stated in the response by the state Chief Secretary to the Home Ministry.
