Russia has received from India an advance payment for S-400 air defence missile systems, the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said on Thursday..
“As for India’s advance payment for the S-400s, this matter has been settled,” the defence cooperation agency told Sputnik. “Due to objective reasons, we do not comment on technical details,” the service said at the MAKS-2019 air show, currently underway in Moscow region’s Zhukovsky.
On July 9, the deputy director of the agency, Vladimir Drozhzhov, had said that Russia hoped to receive the advance payment by the end of 2019 so that deliveries could begin in 2020 and be completed by 2025.
In October last year, India and Russia had concluded a contract on the deliveries of the S-400 missile systems worth over $5 billion. The US has been opposed to the deal. Last year, it made an attempt to prevent India from reaching the deal with Russia on purchasing the S-400s.
