Two youths returned home at Khowai and Teliamura in West Tripura after spending 14 years in Bangladeshi jail.
The officials of Border Guard Bangladesh handed them over to Border Security Force at Bhallabar border last evening.
According to an official report, Prasenjit Debbarma(42), a resident of Duski area of Teliamura, and and Satish Debbarma of Ampura of Khowai had gone to visit Rema Tea Estate at bordering Bagabill in 2004 and unknowingly entered into Bangladesh territory.
“There were no border fencing or identification marks demarcating the border where BGB jawans apprehended us as infiltrators and handed us over to Bangladesh police. Later, police produced us to a local court where a section of arms Act was slapped and accordingly the court sentenced us for 14 year rigorous imprisonment,” Satish told newspersons.
After completion of jail term they were released but the jail authority did not arrange their repatriation to India. They approached the Indian High Commission in Dhaka who helped them to get back home.
