Sambit Patra's emotional outreach could have been finetuned

Reacting to the media questions about his reaction after being fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party from the prestigious Lok Sabha seat of Puri, Sambit Patra was overwhelmed.

In his feat of humility, an elated Patra, BJP’s national spokesperson, somehow went overboard to draw a kind of parallel between Lord Jagannath and Prime minister Narendra Modi. Maybe it was an inadvertent utterance made out of emotion but the repeat mention of it was bit odd to hear.

Patra said: “Modi ji pathaile aau Lord Jagannath dakile” (Modiji sent me and lord Jagannath summoned me). Subsequently, when asked if there is any fear in his mind over the assignment, Patra said, “Jaha upare prabhu Jagannath nkara ashirwad achhi  aau Modi ji nkara ashiward achhi, phir dara kau kathara” (what is there to be worried about when I am blessed by Lord Jagannath and Narendra Modi?).

The comparison may be unintentional but care was taken to please both the sides but the coinage could have been made differently, and not by bracketing both the names together.

In politics every leader has his or her compulsions but such slips sometimes exude a sense not very compatible to common human psyche when it is the question of faith. Loyalty and faith could have been placed separately.
