Senior Congress leader and former Karnataka Minister DK Shivakmar on Friday reached Delhi to appear before the Enforcement Directorate, after the probe agency issued summons in connection with an alleged money laundering case.
Mr Shivakumar, who was accompanied to the ED office by his brother and Congress MP DK Suresh and Youth Congress national interim president BV Srinivas.
Earlier, the Congress leader alleged that the move by the ED was politically motivated to tarnish his and Congress party’s image.
“I am not afraid and will not run away. I will face and will explore the legal avenues available, but the ED act was politically motivated to tarnish my and Congress party image, but will face it,” he said.
“I have highest regard to law and ED, but misusing the official machinery for political gain can not be tolerated”, Mr Shivakumar told reporters before flying to Delhi to appear before the ED.
Earlier, the Karnataka High Court dismissed Mr Shivakumar’s plea seeking a stay on ED summons. (UNI)
