Katihar district mourns deaths of its natives in Pune mishap

A pall of gloom descended on Katihar district today following deaths of 15 people from the district due to the collapse of a wall at Kondhwa in Pune.

At least 15 people were killed and three others injured when the wall of a residential premise collapsed and fell on huts. Among the deceased, 15 people belonged to natives of Balrampur village in the district.

The deceased had been identified as Aman Sharma (19), Lakshmikant Sahani (33), Sunil Singh (35), O B Das (2), Sonali Das (6), Bheema Das (38), Sangeeta Devi (26), Ajit Kumar Sharma (7), Rekhal Kumar Sharma (5), Neeva Devi (30), Deepranjan Sharma, Awadhesh Singh (all natives of Baghar village), Alok Sharma (28), Mohan Sharma (40) and Ravi Sharma (19) all natives of Baisabigi village

As soon as the information about deaths of people from Katihar district reached the district, a large number of people assembled outside the houses of mishap victims.

Meanwhile, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed his deep sorrow over deaths of 15 people from the state’s Katihar district and others due to the collapse of the wall at Kondhwa in Pune.

Kumar in his condolence message here said that family members of each person from Bihar killed in the mishap would be paid ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Chief Minister Relief Fund. He said that Rs 50,000 would be paid to each injured for his proper treatment.
