India cricket captain Virat Kohli has been fined a penalty of Rs 500 by the Gurugram Municipal Corporation for wastage of drinking water at his house in the city.
The fine was imposed after a domestic help was found cleaning a car with running water from a pipe outside Kohli’s DLF Phase 1 residence, an official said on Friday.
It is reported that Kohli’s neighbours lodged a complaint, stating that thousands of litres of drinking water was being wasted in cleaning the vehicles by the cricketer’s domestic helps.
North India is facing severe heat this month which has led to shortage of drinking water in the area. Meanwhile, other houses have also reportedly been challaned by the MCG for similar reason. Currently, the cricketer is leading Team India at the World Cup in England.
