Left parties to protest against Modi Govt's decisions on J&K, says move is attack on Constitution

Protesting the Narendra Modi government’s proposal to revoke the Article 370, which accords special status to Jammu and Kashmir and ‘dismantling’ the state into two, Left parties on Monday decided protest against the decision.

“Members of the Left parties and their supporters will be holding a protest demonstration today at 1530 hrs at Parliament street against the attack on the Indian Constitution by scrapping Article 370 of the Constitution and dismantling the state of Jammu & Kashmir”, said the Left Parties, which is comprising CPI(M), CPI, RSP, Forward Block, CPI(ML) Liberation and SUCI(C).

The statement also said that the protest march will be led by the central leadership of these parties. Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved a resolution seeking abrogation of Article 370 (3) amid Opposition uproar in Rajya Sabha.
He also moved a bill to provide status of Union Territory to Ladakh and a separate Union Territory for Jammu and Kashmir.
