A 36-year-old man has been awarded three years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 2,000, for molesting a minor by the district court here.
The accused was identified as Sunil Gavhane.
Appearing for the prosecution, Additional Public Prosecutor Ujjwala Moholkar told the court that on April 4, 2016, when the survivor’s mother was out for some work, the accused entered the house of the girl, a student of Class 8, gagged her mouth and touched her inappropriately.
The survivor and her mother knew the accused, who lived in the same locality.
The girl narrated the incident to her mother, when she returned home late in the night, after which the police complaint was filed against the accused, who was subsequently arrested.
The accused was held guilty under Sections 354 and 452 of IPC and under Section 7, punishable under Section 8 of the POCSO Act. (UNI)
