Maneka urges Naveen to check elephant deaths in Odisha

Union minister Maneka Gandhi has expressed deep concern over the frequent deaths of wild elephants. In a letter to the chief minister Naveen Patnaik she has also referred the deaths of seven elephants in Dhenkanal and expressed shock that between 2011-2017 435 elephants died out of which 124 due to electrocution only. There is a terrible laclk of coordination between the concerned departments, Maneka said in the letter and sought direct intervention of the chief minister.
