Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah today predicted mid-term election to the Assembly within next four month.
Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said Congress party is ready to face the election and he called upon the workers, during his recent visit to Dakshina Kannada District, to be prepared to face the Election which may be held by December. BJP government will not lost long under the prevailing political circumstances, he added.
Stating that the BJP government’s announcement of Rs 10,000 to each of the flood affected people is not sufficient, Siddaramaiah urged the State government to release at least Rs One lakh.
Siddaramaiah alleged that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is only making speeches but no efforts were made to come to the rescue of people who are suffering. At the same time the Union Government has also failed in releasing the funds for taking up relief and rehabilitation works in the affected 22 Districts.
“BJP government is yet to take off though it is more than a one month past after coming to power by pulling down constitutionally formed Congress-JDS Coalition government through ‘Operation Lotus’ and BJP leaders are fighting only for plum posts and not bothering about the sufferings of the affected people in 108 Taluks which were declared by the State government as flood affected”, he added.
Siddaramaiah also hit out at the central government, accusing it of not releasing funds for flood relief. “It had never happened in the past floods should have been declared as national calamity. We had demanded immediate release of Rs 5,000 crore as interim relief, not even one rupee was given”. (UNI)
