Criticising Prime Minster Narendra Modi for making a visit to Tamil Nadu, former Finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should remember the promises he had made earlier to the masses.
In a series of tweets in Tamil, Chidamabaram said Mr Modi has been rejected by the people of Tamil Nadu and they have a lot many questions to ask him.
Referring to demonetisation, the Congress leader said note-ban had led to 50,000 small and medium enterprises shutting down businesses in Tamil Nadu.
“Demonetisation led to 50,000 small and medium enterprises shutting down leaving five lakh people unemployed”, he tweeted.
Prime minister is visiting the southern state on Sunday to inaugurate several developmental projects including new integrated building at Trichy airport and will also lay foundation stone for modernisation of Chennai Airport.
Earlier in the day, Modi visited Gundur in Andhra Pradesh and unveiled the Visakhapatnam Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) facility of Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited.
In the evening, Modi will visit Karnataka and lay the foundation stone for Indian Institute of Technology, and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad.
