Mortal remains of Jaitley reach Nigambodh ghat for last rites

Cavalcade carrying mortal remains of BJP’s key strategist and chief troubleshooter Arun Jaitley has reached at Nigambodh Ghat here for the final rites.

The remains will be cremated with full state honour. He will be cremated at the same spot where Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya was cremated in 1967. Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya was the ideological forerunner of the BJP.

Scores of ministers including, leaders cutting the political affiliations and party workers have gathered at the Nigambodh ghat to pay their last respect. The former finance minister died at the AIIMS on Saturday after battling multiple health issues for the last several months.

The 66-year old was admitted to hospital on August 9 and breathed his last at 12.07pm on Saturday. Before moving to Nigambodh ghat, several leaders paid their tributes at the BJP HQ here.  (UNI)
