NEP: More than 2 lakh suggestions received so far

States have to implement reservation of seats to EWS in schools: Pokhriyal

New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) Human Resource Development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Thursday said more than two lakh suggestions have been received so far from various stakeholders on New Education Policy.

In a reply during Question Hour the HRD minister said, “A detailed consultation has been done on the draft prepared by Chairman Dr. Kasturirangan-led Committee. Discussions have also been held with the State Education Minister, MPs of different states, stakeholders, experts and parents. After analysis of the suggestions received from these sources, draft for new education policy is being finalised.”

He added that the work on NEP was started before the present government took over.

Mr Pohriyal said on August 21, ‘Nishtha’ a nationwide integrated teachers training programme for 42 lakh teachers, school-heads and educational officers was launched.

Also 20 central schools were inaugurated.
