Nitish condoles the death of former union minister Arun Jaitley, announces 2-day state mourning

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today expressed his deep sorrow over the demise of former union minister Arun Jaitley and announced 2-day state mourning. Kumar in his condolence message said that Late Jaitley Ji was an extraordinarily talented person and had successfully shouldered the responsibilities of various ministries in the centre. He said Jaitley was also an excellent legal expert.

Chief Minister said that Late Jaitley Ji reached a great height in his public life through his high political values and principles. He commanded respect cutting across political parties of different ideologies on the strength of his towering personality, CM said, adding that he had a personal relationship with Jaitley Ji and he was very much shocked over his demise.

Kumar said that Jaitley’s death had caused an irreparable loss to the country and his absence would always be felt. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and adequate strength to his family members and admirers to withstand the loss. As it is, senior BJP leader, noted advocate and former union minister Arun Jaitley breathed his last at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi today. He was 67.

Jaitley is survived by his wife, son and daughter. He was a member of Rajya Sabha and had refused the post of minister in Narendra Modi government when it was formed for the second time this summer. (UNI)
