Nripendra Misra and P K Mishra were on Tuesday re-appointed as Principal Secretary and Additional Principal Secretary, respectively, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Cabinet minister rank.
‘Their appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime minister or until further orders or which ever is earlier’, Ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions said in a statement.
‘The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr Nripendra Misra, IAS (Retired) as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister with effect from 31 May 2019,” the release from the Ministry said.
In another statement, the Ministry said, ”The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr P K Mishra, IAS (Retired) as the Additional Principal Secretary to Prime Minister with effect from 31 May 2019.”
The appointment committee assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister to both former bureaucrats.
A 1967-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre Retd Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Nripendra Misra served as Principal Secretary to the PM in the previous NDA government as well. He has also served as the chairperson of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Telecom Secretary of India and Fertilizers Secretary of India.
Meanwhile, Dr P K Mishra, a 1972-batch Retd IAS officer of Gujarat Cadre had also served as the Additional Principal Secretary to the PM in the previous government.
The appointment of both bureaucrats is co-terminus with the term of PM.
