Odisha Cong to stick to“one ticket one family” norm in selection of candidates for LS and Assly elections

Congress will strictly follow the ‘one ticket one family’ norm during the selection of party candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.
Party’s Odisha in charge Jitendra Singh said this time the Congress will not allow more than one member from a family to contest the elections.
He, however, stated that a leader selected by the party to contest the elections could nominate one of his family members if he or she is not keen to contest the elections.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Pradesh Congress election committee during its marathon meeting tentatively finalized suitable candidates for the 21 Lok sabha and 147 Assembly seats from the state.
The list was sent to AICC screening committee which will deliberate on the list and finally recommend to the Central Election Committee of the party which will finalise the names of the candidates for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.
Meanwhile, Odisha Congress Media Cell Chairman Satya Prakash Nayak has clarified that the names of Congress candidates for the Assembly and Lok Sabha seats circulated in the social media are not based on fact.
The names of Congress candidates for the Assembly and Lok Sabha seats went viral in the social media and also telecast in the local TV channel triggering resentment among the party aspirants who were eyeing for ticket to contest the elections.
Odisha Pradesh Congress committee sources here said this time the party has given more weight age considering the wining prospect of the person and focused more on youth and women candidates .
