Odisha DGP asks police to curb forced collection of donation

Odisha Director General of Police B K Sharma has  instructed  all  District Police Superintendents and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack   Police Commissioner to curb forcible collection of donation  with an  iron hand  during the festive season and take all precautionary measures  for smooth and incident free celebration of festival.The DGP in  its instruction said the festival season has begun in the state with  the celebration Sri Ganesh Puja and it will continue till Baliyatra and  Kartikeswar Puja.

He  said  anti-socials and mischief mongers  try to create disturbances in society in the name of religion and  festival by forcible collection of donation (chanda) during the period. Since  it sometimes causes serious law and order situation in the state the  SPs have been asked to take action against the mischief mongers involved  in forcible collection of donation in different parts of the state. As  per the report received in the State Police Hdqrs, Police have  registered five cases and arrested 13 persons in different parts of the  state since the order issued on September one last.
