Pak violates ceasefire, fires unprovoked along LoC in Poonch; Indian Army retaliates

Pakistan Army yet again violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control for the third consecutive day on Thursday by firing unprovoked on the forward posts in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

It prompted the Indian Army to retaliate, defence sources here said.

“At about 0100 hrs on Thursday, the Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by resorting to heavy shelling with mortars and firing of small arms along the LoC in Poonch sector,” the sources said.

The Pakistan Army had resorted to unprovoked firing along the LoC, which was retaliated by own troops effectively while the exchange of fire lasted till 0300 hrs.

Pakistan also violated the truce agreement on Wednesday and Tuesday.

On February 11 also, the neighbouring nation had violated the ceasefire while on February 9, an Army jawan suffered injuries in a sniping shot fired from across the border in incident of ceasefire violation by the Pakistan on the Line of Control in Rajouri district.

Earlier on February 5, Pakistan fired shells along bordering villages close the Line of Control in Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch.

Pakistan on January 27 also violated ceasefire by firing unprovoked in Poonch district.

However, there was no exchange of sweets between Indian and Pakistani Armies on the LoC on Republic Day this year.

Pakistan continued its nefarious activities along the LoC on January 25 and 24 as they initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by small arms fire and also shelling with mortars in Mendhar Sector of Poonch.

Earlier on January 20, Pakistani Rangers violated the ceasefire along international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua while BSF troops responded by limited fire.

On January 18 also, Pakistan fired small arms and violated the ceasefire on international border and on January 15, a BSF attained martyrdom in sniper fire from across the border along international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.

Pakistani Army has also opened the front along the Line of Control and firing unprovoked for the past two weeks in Poonch and Rajouri sectors.
