Pakistan violates air space, Jammu airport on alert

Pakistan fighter jets violated India’s air space in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district on Wednesday.

The Jammu airport has been put on alert and all flights cancelled.

“Pakistan on Wednesday violated Indian air space in Nowshera sector of Jammu’s Rajouri district and in Poonch, but were pushed back by Indian aircraft,” sources here said.

However, there is no official confirmation.

The jets tried to target the Ammunition Depot in Kalsiyan near Nowshera sector but missed the target, the sources said. Security near airports in Leh, Jammu, Srinagar and Pathankot has been heightened.

Pakistani troops had also resorted to firing mortar shells targeting civilian hamlets and forward posts from Tuesday night.

Rajouri administration has ordered closure of all government and private schools located within 5 kilometres of the Line of Control (LoC) in the district on Wednesday and cancelled exams scheduled for today.
