Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated ace badminton player
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu on winning Gold at the BWF World Championship.
“The stupendously talented PV Sindhu makes India proud again! Congratulations to her for winning the Gold at BWF World Championships,’ Modi tweeted. ‘The passion and dedication with which she’s pursued badminton is inspiring. PV Sindhu’s success will inspire generations of players,’ he added, in his missive.
The 24-year-old made history, after becoming the first Indian shuttler to win the World Championship at Basel. She finally turned her silver into gold with a clinical performance against Noxomu Okhuhara of Japan 21-7, 21-7.
After her victory, an elated Sindhu said, “Last time I lost the finals, before that also I lost finals…and it is very very important to win now. I thank the crowd for supporting me day in and day out.” (UNI)
