A three-member high level BJP delegation, headed by Bengal MP Surinderjeet Singh Ahluwalia, which made an on the spot study of the violence-torn Bhatpara area on Saturday under a directive from party president and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claimed that the police firing led to the killing of two persons here on Thursday last.
Ahluwalia, an MP from Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency from the state, said if police fired in the air, how these two persons – Rambabau Shaw and Dharambir Shaw – received bullets of SLR and Insas rifles.
”If police fired in the air, how the two were killed. Does it indicate that the deceased were flying in the sky? ” he asked. He claimed the firing was made aiming the target.
Ahluwalia was accompanied by two other BJP MPs Satyapal Singh, former police commissioner of Mumbai and an MP from Bagpat Lok Sabha seat in UP, and Bishnu Dayal Ram, an MP from Jharkhand and also a former DG of that state.
Barrrackpore MP Arjun Singh also accompanied the delegation.
They called on the bereaved family members and talked to the local people, who also alleged that the police firing led to the death of two persons, who were in their late 20s.
Ahluwalia charged the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Government with unleashing a reign of terror during the poll and after because she was frustrated with the Lok Sabha poll result.
He said their party president Amit Shah was concerned over the Bhatpara killings and sent his condolences to the bereaved family members.
