Prior to his visit to the tribal-dominated Sundargarh (ST) Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the poll result in Odisha will surprise the nation.

Taking to the Twitter handle, Mr Modi said in Odia, “ Will address two public rallies at Sundargarh and Sonepur. The election result in Odisha will surprise the nation and the BJP will win a record number of seats in Odisha. ‘

‘The people of Odisha, ‘ the Prime Minister said, ‘ Will reject both ruling BJD and Congress in the state. ‘

Today was Mr Modi’s third visit to the state during the past nine days.

Earlier on March 29, he addressed the first election rally at Jeypore in Koraput district and later on March 4 an election rally at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.

Overwhelmed by the response and massive turnout of people at his first election rally in Jeypore , Mr Modi on March 31 during his interaction with a fisherman in coastal Kendrapara district through video conferencing asserted that the BJP will witness a Tripura-like situation and capture power dislodging the 19-year rule of the Naveen Patnaik Government.

BJP, the Prime Minister said, will script a Tripura -like situation in Odisha, which will be second Tripura for the BJP, putting an end to the 19 years rule of the BJD government, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Mr Patnaik, also BJP supremo, however, was quick to respond to the Prime Minister’s statement and said, ‘ The Tripura formula will not work for the BJP in Odisha, adding the BJD will do exceedingly well in the elections.” (UNI)
