The static surveillance team ,engaged in poll duty, with the help of Pattamundai police has seized an unaccounted cash of Rs 9.24 lakh from a person near Pattamundai by pass.
Pattamundai SDPO Ranjan Kumar Dey said last evening that the cash kept in a bag was seized from the car of one Basant Kumar Das, of Narendrapur, owner of a filling station.
Mr Dey said the cash was seized as he did not obtain the permission from the district election Officer to carry the cash,
The Flying squad later lodged a complaint in this regard at Pattamundai police station.
Mr Das said, the team seized the money while he was going to to deposit the money in his bank account.
Sub Collector Sanjay Kumar Mishra, said Mr Das is given 24 hours to submit documents in support of his claim. A team has been constituted to inquire into the incident. (UNI)
