President remembers Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary

President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday paid homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.

Taking taking to micro blogging site twitter, he said, ‘On this occasion let us rededicate ourselves to the values of truth, non-violence, harmony, morality and simplicity,’ Mr Kovind said.

The President said Bapu’s message remains relevant for all and he continues to be the guiding light for everyone.

‘Homage to Bapu on #GandhiJayanti. The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the values of truth, non-violence, harmony, morality and simplicity. His message remains relevant for all & he continues to be our guiding light,’ he said.

Mr Kovind also paid tributes to the former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.

The President remembered Shashtri as the great son of the country who served the nation with utmost diligence and dedication.

Mr Kovind further said that it was Mr Shastri’s courage simplicity and integrity which continues to remain an inspiration for the entire country.
