Bhubaneswar, On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Ashok Kumar Mishra, Senior Assistant, Zoology Department, Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar, his double-storied residential building at Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar, double-storied building at Patia, Bhubaneswar, government quarter at Bhubaneswar, house at native village Durgapur, PS-Salipur, Dist. Cuttack, and office room at DDCE, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar, were simultaneously searched on by the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
In course of search and inventory, Ashok Kumar Mishra, Senior Assistant was found in possession of assets worth Rupees 1 Crore 38 lakhs 27 thousand 7 Hundred 55 including one triple-storied building, two numbers of double-storied buildings including LIG house, one single-storied building, fourteen numbers of shop rooms, four numbers of plots, one motor cycle, deposits in different banks, gold and silver ornaments, cash of over 3.5 Lakhs and household articles.
After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Mishra was calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rupees 1 Crore 33 lakhs 81 thousand 9 hundred 77.
As Ashok Kumar Mishra, Senior Assistant, Zoology Department, Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar was found in possession of such huge disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.40 dt.20.12.2020 was registered against Mishra U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) PC Act, 1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detailed investigation. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 20.12.2020, Mishra has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to jail custody till 2.1.2021. Investigation of the case is in progress.
