Puri temple to offer economical accommodation to the pilgrims

BHUBANESWAR: Much to the cheer of the countless common people visiting the pilgrims’ paradise of Puri, the Sri Jagannath Temple administration has decided to offer low-cost accommodation at its Bhakta Niwas (dormitory for devotees).

Chief of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration Krishna Kumar has announced that the Bhakta Niwas would come up in Baselisahi.

Spread over an area of about 10 acres, the complex would be about 2.5 kilometres far from the temple.

The devotees would have to pay in between Rs.100 to Rs.150 per day to stay in the Bhakta Niwas.

The Niwas would have a capacity to accommodate around 3000 guests.

The announcement by the temple authorities followed the visit of the 5T Secretary V Kartikeyan Pandian and Additional Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra to Puri to review the progress of the heritage corridor being developed.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken a keen interest in beautification and development of the ancient town that is known worldwide as a famous pilgrims’ paradise.

There are nearly 650 privately owned hotels and lodges in Puri and about 30,000 people visit Puri on an ordinary day.
