Mumbai, Dec 10: Selling in IT and media stocks led the benchmark Sensex to lose 60 points during the early trade on Tuesday after it managed to open in the green.
During the early trade, Sensex fell 59.11 points to 40,428.32 after it opened at 40,588.81 from its previous close of 40,487.43. The Nifty traded at 11,921.40, lower by 16.10 points.
On Monday, data showed that Equity Mutual Fund (MF) schemes recorded worst inflow in three and a half years at Rs 1,311 crore in November, 78 per cent lower as compared to October.
Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) bought Rs 459.22 crore worth of equities on Monday while its domestic counterparts also purchased scrips worth Rs 75 crore.
While the top laggards among the Nifty50 scrips were Yes Bank, Bharti Inftatel and Zee, the gainers were Sun Pharma, ONGC and Cipla.
