Social Media to keep within respectable limits during Elections or face imprisonment

With all the States undergoing the process of General Elections and State Assembly Elections,certain restrictions have been imposed on social media ,from today.
Chief Electoral Officer R Telang has also advised the social media to refrain from posting hate speeches, derogatory remarks or reports,photographs,intentional insults,obscenities of offensive nature during the period of Model Code of Conduct ,from social media plaforms.
This is applicable to all the political parties and public. It is meant to prevent feelings of enmity,hatred or ill will in the society. The Social Media is expected to follow these to avoid disturbing peace in Sikkim ,during the process of Elections-2019 .
Anyone or group would be punishable under section 500 for defamation ,504 Intentional insult. These two attract provision of imprisonment up to two years and fine, 505 public mischief attracts the provision for imprisonment up to 3 years and 153A attracts imprisonment up to 5 years , fine for promoting enmity between religious groups,race,place of birth,residence and language.
