Sunny Deol has slip of tongue while taking oath as LS MP

Actor-turned politician Sunny Deol had a slip of tongue while taking oath as Lok Sabha MP today . when he said ‘withhold the sovereignity and integrity of india’ instead of ‘uphold the sovereignity and integrity of india’. However, he immediately corrected it.

Sunny took oath along with Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir badal ,AAP MP Bhagwant Mann and Preneet kaur & manish Tewari of Congress on the second day of the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha.

‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan was raised in the treasury bench when Sunny Deol, took oath as member of the House. The BJP Gurdaspur MP from Punjab , who was dressed in blazer, a white shirt and jeans took his oath in English.

Sunny Deol, who is a first-time MP had defeated Suni Jakhar of the Congress by a margin of 82,459 votes from Gurdaspur seat.

Bhagwant Mann ended his oath with the slogan ‘Inqalab Zindabad’. While Sukhbir Badal concluded his oath with Sikh religious chant of ‘Wahe Guruji ka Khalsa, Wahe Guruji de Fateh”.

As soon the House assembled, the Secretary General of Lok Sabha Snehlata Shrivastava said three hundred names of the newly elected MPs were read out on Monday.

Among other prominent MPs, elected from Punjab, who administered oath on the second day of the first session included Preneet Kaur (INC), wife of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Former Union minister Manish Tewari (INC). He took his oath in Punjabi.

Shiv Sena Member Krupal Balaji Tumane took his oath in Marathi while Odisha BJP MP Suresh Pujari took his oath in Odia.

Former Chief Minister of Puducherry V Vaithilingam took oath as a Member in Tamil.
Badruddin Ajmal (AIUDF), representing the Dhubri constituency from Assam, took his oath in English. After Ajmal, members from Rajasthan took their oaths.

Prominent members from Rajasthan who take their oaths included–former Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Om Birla who is two time MP from Kota.
