Sushil Modi files criminal defamation case against Rahul

Senior BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi filed a criminal defamation case against Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the court of chief judicial magistrate here today.
After filing a defamation case in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Modi said that Gandhi while addressing an election meeting at Bengaluru’s Kolar locality on April 13 this year had called everybody with the surname ‘Modi’ a thief.
He said that Gandhi had repeated his statement many times and his speech was also telecast on various television channels.  Gandhi’s statement was also prominently published in newspapers.
Modi said that the case had been filed against Gandhi under section 500 of the Indian Penal Code.
BJP leader Modi in his petition accused Gandhi of tarnishing his image in the society by calling everybody with surname ‘Modi’ a thief.
“It is a criminal act and Gandhi should surely be punished by the court,” he added.
Modi prayed to the court to take cognisance against  Gandhi in this matter and also issue summon to him so that he could be punished after the trial of a criminal defamation case filed against him.

Modi’s witnesses in the case are MLAs Sanjeev Chaurasia, Nitin Navin and Manish Kumar. (UNI)
