Three students from Bengaluru who were part of a tourist party returning home after pilgrimage to Gokarna in Uttara Kannada were killed when a truck rammed their tempo traveler vehicle from behind in the city during early hours on Monday.
Police said the incident occurred when the a tyre of the tempo got punctured and two students had left the wheel to get it set right. The driver of the tempo had parked the vehicle on the side of the road. The speeding truck rammed it from behind and the three students sitting inside the vehicle died, while five others sustained injuries.
The victims were B.Com students from Vijaya College in Bengaluru. The dead were identified as Harsha, Srinidhi and Karthik. The injured have been admitted to General Hospital here. (UNI)
