Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb took strong exception to deteriorating situation of power supply in the state over past few days and sudden power cut on Aug 11 last for long time in the capital city that brought the irritated consumers on the street at midnight.
Police has registered couple of cases against a few consumers and launched investigation into it while the state government also initiated separate enquiry into the sudden power cut in the city during hottest and humid night. The department has also asked to review the power distribution system and identify the reasons of deteriorating state of power supply in the state. Chief Minister has convened review meeting today with the officials of Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL) and directed the power department officials to remain vigilant over 24×7 to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Last evening, in launching of beat policing here, Mr Deb had smelled conspiracy against the government by a fraction of TSECL officials who were desperately working for irritating the consumers and to make them hostile against the government. He asserted that the people responsible and erring employees of TSECL for the frequent power cuts and massive electric disruption would be arrested within seven days, as the government would identify those officials who are behind this and none of the erring employees will be tolerated in the department and legal action would be taken against all of them.
“Some of the officials tried to reason that due to increasing use of ACs and other electrical appliances, the electricity related problems are emerging. But, the expert’s opinion in this regard is quite different. The experts claimed that increasing use of electric appliances cannot be a contributing factor behind frequent power cut and supply disruption” Mr Deb said. He alleged some of the officials of TSECL have been involved in the malpractice and plotting against the government. However, each and every official, top-to-bottom in TSECL has been directed to remain on-duty in emergency mode and keep their mobile phones switched on for round the clock. (UNI)
