Two farmers commit suicide in Maharashtra

Two farmers committed suicide from Beed district of Marathwada region, police sources said on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Sudhakar Rangnath Gavali (38), a resident of Aanegaon village in Kaij taluka of the district.

According to the sources, he hanged himself to a mango tree near by the village on Wednesday. He has taken the extreme step as he was unable to repay his bank loans and infertility, they further said. In another incident, Uddhav Marathi Bhandwalkar(52), resident of Devryachiwadi village in Beed taluka took the extreme step by touching the live electricity wire.

He was rushed to the hospital but doctors declared him as death. The cause of the death was infertility of his land and mounting debt. He was survived wife,three married daughters and two sons, police said. Cases have been registered and further investigations were underway, police added.

Since Jan 1, 2019, more than 450 farmers from eight districts of Marathwada region have committed suicides. (UNI)
